Lyrics – It Keeps Me Grounded

Song List & Links:

The Awakening

They said, it’s like a beckoning call
From the shadows, in the distance.
I said, just let your heart breath
Of an awakening.

Capture all the breezes in the trees
And the meadows of the world.
Listen to the single birds song
Of an awakening.

Grab each day, before it’s gone.
Take each day at a time.
On old cliché from a different drum
Still holding its time
Forgiven spirits and kindred hearts
Allows you to move on.
It’s not what you think,
but what you bring to remember and carry on.

(Instrumental)

I said don’t run any more, from the echos of the world
They said, just let your heart breath
An Awakening…
An Awakening…
An Awakening…

Don’t Roll Your Eyes At Me Clare

Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare
Both you and I know life’s unfair
Your mamma told me to beware
Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare.

Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare
Both you and I know life’s unfair
Your mamma told me to beware
Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare.

Your Dad’s at the camp site cooking grub
Your Mom’s at the fire heating up
She looks up at the clock
She looks down at your chair
And then she says, as you raise your head
It’s time to go to bed, the last thing I head your Momma said was…

Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare
Both you and I know life’s unfair
Your mamma told me to beware
Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare.

(Instrumental)

Hey Clare, there’s a lesson to be learned
Hey Clare, don’t you let your eye balls turn,
Heard about the child, who’s eyeballs ran wild.
Right to left, left to right and now that child, is crossed eyed.

Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare
Both you and I know life’s unfair
Your mamma told me to beware
Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare.

Hey Clare, you’d be skipping down the street
Hey Clare, you might step on your feet
You might step on a crack , break your mamma’s back.
You might step on a frog, could be the neighbor’s dog,
You might step on a welcome mat, could be the neighbor’s cat.
You might step on a weed eater
You might step on a bird feeder
The neighbor’s be talken about the way your walkin.
Don’t roll your eyes at me Clare.

The Bicycle Song

Livin’s like ridin’ a bicycle,
All you really do is steer.
Try to keep yourself in the middle of the road,
Dodgin’ the bumps that appear.
If you fall down,
You gotta’ pick yourself up,
Brush yourself off,
And get right back in the human race again.

I used to look back over my shoulders,
Never lookin’ straight ahead.
Then I finally got older,
Started reachin’ for the goals that I set.
I remember when I was just a little boy,
My mom and papa told me, “Son,
Livin’s like swimmin’,
Gotta jump right in,
Tread water til you get where you’re goin’.”
That’s why I’m singin’ now…

Livin’s like ridin’ a bicycle,
All you really do is steer.
Try to keep yourself in the middle of the road,
Dodgin’ the bumps that appear.
If you fall down,
You gotta pick yourself up,
Brush yourself off,
And get right back in the human race.

(Instrumental…)

Livin’s like ridin’…a bicycle.
Livin’s like ridin’…a bicycle.
Livin’s like ridin’…a bicycle.
Livin’s like ridin’…a bicycle.
Everybody sing it now…

Livin’s like ridin’ a bicycle,
All you really do is steer.
Try to keep yourself in the middle of the road,
Dodgin’ the bumps that appear.
If you fall down,
You gotta pick yourself up,
Brush yourself off,
And get right back in the human race.

The Bicycle Song.

Lindsay’s Love

Lindsay’s know what she wants
And she knows how to get it.
She smiles at me, and I know in a minute,
Lindsay gets what she wants with her smile.

She takes my hand, and she pulls me to the window,
She takes my heart and my soul.
She gazes down at the world full of wonder.
Right then and there, I let my Lindsay go.

Sometimes it’s so hard to explain
Cause when she falls, she gets back up
And starts all over again.

She takes me down to the edge of the river
She ups to the dunes of sand.

She slides on down, expects me to catch her
Right then and there, I reach out my hand

Sometimes, it’s so hard to explain
Cause when she falls, she gets back up
And starts all over again.

She takes me down to the edge of the river
She takes me up to the dunes of sand
She slides on down, expects me to catch her
Right then and there, I reach out my hand.

Life’s tendency is the reach around every corner
Patiently we stand back and watch her
And the end, it all works out the same.

Surrounded by all the people that lover here
Surrounded by God above
The two of us, just stand back and watch.
Surrounded by unconditional love.

(Repeat)

Take my hand we’ll fly away, lay your head on your pillow
Butterflies and things, dream about what tomorrow brings.

Hands

These hands are old and wrinkled
And have seen their finest hour.
And now’s the time to return
The little bouquet of flowers
To guide them in the twilight,
To help as they had done,
All the things that they had done
For everyone.

The hands there told a story,
A full message I could not see.
But then I did remember
What my parent’s hands once did for me.
My father’s hands were workin’
From mornin’ until night,
And sometimes they were spankin’,
So that I would grow up right.
My mother’s hands were workin’
To make this house a home,
Or playing games with children
So they wouldn’t feel all alone,
Or guiding little footsteps,
So they may not take a fall,
Or teaching of a handcraft.
This I remember most of all.

These hands are old and wrinkled
And have seen their finest hour.
And now’s the time to return
The little bouquet of flowers
To guide them in the twilight,
To help as they had done,
All the things that they had done
For everyone.

Some say old hands are ugly,
Somehow this I cannot see.
For all I can truly remember
Is what my parent’s hands once did for me.

Jessica’s Song – Hot Air Balloon

Gliding across the air like an autumn leaf,
Higher than the birds, as happy as God’s words.
Feelin’ the clouds as they pass you by,
Feelin’ the warm sun rays in your eyes,
The cool wind across your face is no surprise,
Flaotin’ around so high in the skies,
In my hot air balloon.

Suddenly, as you rise,
Goin’ higher and higher and higher in the skies,
Watchin’ the world as it passes you by,
You seem to fly.
Lookin’ down from above,
Soarin’ like an eagle, feelin’ like a dove,
Let the wind catch you away,
Like God does when you pray.

(Instrumental)

Suddenly, as you rise,
Goin’ higher and higher and higher in the skies,
Watchin’ the world as it passes you by,
You seem to fly.
Lookin’ down from above,
Soarin’ like an eagle, feelin’ like a dove,
Let the wind catch you away,
Like God does when you pray.

Little Leah

A little Leah,
I want to see ya,
I want to be with you in the morning.

Little Leah I want to hold you in my arms,
I wasn’t to know ya, I want to show ya,
I really got to go ya.
A little Lea, with all your girly charms.

A little Leah I really need a, put you on my shoulders,
A little Leah, I want to raise you way up high.
I want to put you in the highest place so the big wide world can see your cutie face.
A little Leah, with your little pretty girly smile.

When I look into your eyes of blue,
It’s like looking in pools of water.
With your long lashes and your candy red cheeks,
Makes me feel like I ought to say…

With all your girly cares.

In Everybody’s Life

In everybody’s life some rain must fall.
IN everybody’s life some rain must come down.
Everybody’s got a dream that might come.
And if you’ve been lookin’,
You’ll soon be comin’ ‘round.
Don’t you know that it’s true?
Don’t you know that it’s true?
Gotta’ keep your feet on the ground.

When you wake up in the mornin’,
The skies could be cloudy or gray.
And the along comes that ol’ sunshine,
And wash those dark clouds away.
Don’t you know that it’s true?
Don’t you know that it’s true?
Gotta’ keep your feet on the ground.

(Instrumental)

You know sometimes it just don’t seem right.
NO, sometimes it just don’t seem right at all.
One day you’re up, the next day you’re down.
Seems like it’s always your turn to fall.
Don’t you know that it’s true?
Don’t you know that it’s true?
Gotta’ keep your feet on the ground.

Fill Up My Coffee Cup

Fill up my coffee mug with coffee
Give me a place to sit down
I hear the bugs buzz around my distant cousin
I see the shadows on the ground
Got me a place in the porch corner
And the kids are upside down
Fill up my coffee mug with coffee
And I guess I’ll stick around.

I’ll take two scopes of sugar, I like my coffee stirred, I like my Irish cream.
Get it hot from the pot, gonna sip thru my lip, gonna avoid that aroma steam
Gonna get my fix from my caffeine fix
Don’t wanna blistered tongue this time.
I’m gonna drink it down, to the grounds
I’m gonna drink it to the very last coffee grind.

Fill up my coffee mug with coffee
Give me a place to sit down
I hear the bugs buzz around my distant cousin
I see the shadows on the ground
Got me a place in the porch corner
And the kids are upside down
Fill up my coffee mug with coffee
And I guess I’ll stick around.

We got birds chirpen in the trees
Honey suckle breeze, we blue sky’s up above
We got butterfly’s a fluttering, a garden party
Pollinating love, strolled down to the lawn
Bunny rabbit come and gone, wild flowers and tulips displayed
All of the sudden, the screen door flies open
A voice yells out, it’s gonna be a beautiful day.

Fill up my coffee mug with coffee
Give me a place to sit down
I hear the bugs buzz around my distant cousin
I see the shadows on the ground
Got me a place in the porch corner
And the kids are upside down
Fill up my coffee mug with coffee
And I guess I’ll stick around.

Fill up my coffee mug with coffee…
Fill up my coffee mug with coffee…

I think I’ll take the chocolate doughnut over there.

Can’t Seem To Open My Eyes

I think I’m dreaming,
I know I’m dreaming,
But can’t seem to open my eyes.

It’s hard believing, I think I’m dreaming,
But I can’t seem to open my eyes.

Something inside has got a hold on me.
Drawing me to peaceful tranquility.
I know it’s around, it’s keeping my down
But I can’t seem to open my eyes.

There’s a beacon of light, shining all around me now,
But I can’t seem to open my eyes.
I feel its presence there, as it surrounds me now,/
But I can’t seem to open my eyes.

Something inside has got this control of me now,/
Drawing to peaceful serenity some how.
I know that it’s around, it’s keeping me down,
But I can’t seem to open my eyes.

(Instrumental)

Angelical voices in the Distance  I hear
Gabrietts Trumpeters drawing me near.
Something is finding its way,
Like a star gazing in the depths of distance light.
Like a warm baby’s breath and a new born life.
Something is finding its way, I’m not quite clear.
What has come of me. Only in the distance I begin to see,
Hold on, something, I’m rearranging, it’s what I’ve been hoping (???????)

Now I’m understanding more,
Cause my eyelids still closed tightly,
As I’m starting at the opening,
Of my eyes.
